Aging, Brain Health and Alzheimer’s Disease

Please join us from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Redwood Library & Athenaeum in Newport, RI, for Aging, Brain Health and Alzheimer’s Disease, a presentation on aging, dementia and the current state of the science by experts from the Norman Prince Neurosciences Institute.

Attendees will hear from Rhode Island’s top brain researchers and physicians about:

  • Healthy aging vs. dementia
  • How Alzheimer’s disease starts and spreads in the brain
  • How Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed and treated
  • The latest advances in early detection and clinical treatments
  • Where caregivers can get help

The Salons begin at 6 p.m. and last approximately one hour; wine and cheese is served beforehand at 5:30 p.m.

Presenters include:

  • Peter J. Snyder, PhD, vice president and chief research officer, Lifespan; professor of neurology, Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
  • Brian R. Ott, MD, director, Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders Center at Rhode Island Hospital; professor of neurology, Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University
  • Stephen P. Salloway, MD, director of neurology and the Memory and Aging Program at Butler Hospital; professor of neurology and psychiatry, Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University

The Salons are free for Redwood members, and $10 for non-members. Reservations are not required but are suggested, as occasionally the Salons do reach full capacity.
